purpose. The purpose of this site is threefold. First, the site stands as a means for me to present myself on the web to anyone who cares or anyone whom I tell about the web page. Second, it acts as a sort of more public journal for me, a place to record my thoughts, moods, events, and many other things. And third, in addition to just recording things in a journal, this place is a way for me to document my growth personally, evaluate trends and ideas in my life in a more organized manner, and basically just figure myself out easier. holdinfinity.net/com. The title for this site came from seeking inspiration in my long list of quotes. I stumbled upon one by William Blake: To see a World in a grain of sand, And a Heaven in a wild flower, Hold infinity in the palm of your hand, And eternity in an hour. This quote struck me anew as being beautiful and so true, and the words "hold infinity" jumped out at me. version 4.0. Version 4.0 (Feb 2002 to present) is a spawn of my new outlook on my future and life I would guess. I have recently graduated from college, and with that large change in my life, my web site is taking an equally large new direction. After 6 years of a black background, I now have an offwhite, brighter look. previous versions. I started out this website by snagging code from a Geocities Homesteader back in 1996 when Ryan forced me to learn my own code. From there I created unofficial sites for Rusted Root followed by a site for Strangers in Paradise. Around 1998, I finally got around to advancing my skills on my own personal site redesign. Out sprang Version 2.0 under the new title of "Night Dreams, Day Dreams." The title is taken from the title of a journal book that I purchased long ago. The site evolved with version 3.0 (2000) as I minimized the information on my pages and restructured the site navigation from about 10 main links to 4. It was at this time that this site started really getting a style of its own. Version 3.5 (2001) was a backend and coding upgrade with the addition of php support, a php news engine and full site backend created by me, javascript support, CSS styles, and even 95% CSS-based layout (quite the challenge). devel. I am proud to say I have always coded my pages using text editors (Notepad) because I love the control I can have over my code. I use a large amount of php for the organization of the site, Perl for the news script, javascript in menues and popups, css styles, and a heck of a lot of html as the glue for it all. Graphics are made/edited in Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop. 11-9.net. Back around 1999, a few online friends and I decided we wanted our own web space and domain name. After long discussion, it was agreed upon to use 11-9.net. This group of friends and I were heavily into playing the online game Quake, and 11-9 was our team color code (purple shirt and blue-green pants I believe). Thus sprang www.11-9.net. |
